What does digital dental design cost?

4 min read

Design fees vary widely between laboratories, and the headline number rarely tells the whole story. Understanding the pricing models helps you compare quotes on equal terms.

Per unit vs per case

Per-unit pricing charges for each tooth designed — common for crowns, inlays and veneers. Per-case pricing charges a flat fee for the whole design — typical for full-arch work, surgical guides and orthodontic setups. A lab quoting €12 per unit and one quoting €40 per case may be offering the same price for a three-unit bridge.

Rush surcharges

Most labs charge extra for priority turnaround, usually a percentage on top of the base fee. LabMatch profiles can display a rush surcharge percentage so you know the cost of urgency before you ask for it.

What should be included

Check whether the quote covers reasonable redesigns, file formats you need (STL for printing, construction files if required) and how long the files remain available for download.

The platform fee, transparently

On LabMatch there is no markup on the lab's quote and no subscription for dentists. The dentist pays exactly the quoted amount; LabMatch retains a 10% commission from the laboratory's side. Comparing quotes on the platform means comparing the labs' real prices.
